How Satellite Imagery can benefit your GIS and CAD projects

Having a Birds Eye view of any project is very helpful and very valuable in making important decisions. Base maps display the project location and help define the project areas and boundaries. Having imagery as a background layer provides more information then the common land markers or vector markers.

Digital Globe offers the highest commercial resolution satellite available in today market. The Quick Bird satellite collects multispectral and panchromatic data in 16-bit rasters. Most aerial and other satellite companies only offer 8-bit raster data which provides less data.

The multispectral data has a resolution of 2.7 meters in the near infrared (900-760 nm), red (690-630 nm), green (600-520 nm), and blue (520-420 nm) spectral wavelengths (bands). The panchromatic band has a resolution of 60 centimeters and covers the spectral wavelengths of 900 - 420 nanometers. Black and White images have higher resolution and provide a method for sharpening the lower resolution color imagery wavelengths.

Using special GeoSpatial processes Turf Image is able to create a 60 cm True Color Pan Sharpened image ready for use in Arc View and other GIS programs. This image has the same resolution as the panchromatic (B&W) band but allows users to view the data in color.

Turf Image is able to lower the cost of new imagery collections by ordering for you the multispectral Standard Bundle from Digital Globe and resellers. We also offer access to archive data in case new data imagery is not required for your project. Archive data offers yet another cost effective way to obtain imagery for your projects.

By ordering the Digital Globe multispectral (MS) Standard Bundle (Level 1 or 2) Turf Image is able to process the raw data and provided you with more data at a lower cost. You will receive the following products at a lower cost than offered by Digital Globe or resellers. Turf Image will help you set up your projects with imagery and other GIS data to get you where you want to be. Providing a "stepping stone" for GIS projects.
